Newsletter – January 2016
There’s no getting away from it, we are a little late with the first newsletter of 2016, but it has been an incredibly busy January for us at Magenta.
Here is a catch up on what we have been up to the last couple of months…
The Liberty Marketing guys launched the Cardiff Movember Awards last year to raise money to put a stop to cancer. They held an awards evening at 29 Park Place at the end of November and dished out prizes to businesses that took part in the challenge, and to those who had the finest tash! The boys had a pre-moustache photo shoot as well as these studio shots of the end result. If you want to know more about the event and money raised, read more about it here.
We were approached by Sequence Agency to manage the new website photography for The Motivational Preparation College for Training (MPCT). We were thrilled to be involved in this project and are really passionate about the work MPCT do. For anyone that is unaware of their work they have a number of training programmes in schools, colleges and sports facilities across the UK and they are dedicated to help 16-19 year olds find opportunities through education and training. We had a full on time with this project and the learners were amazing and a great bunch of kids, it was a great experience for us at Magenta. Visit the website to find out more and see more of our photography! www.mpct.co.uk
ECHA Microbiology are World Leaders in problem solving for Microbiology in Industry. From their base in St.Mellons, Cardiff they test, analyse and investigate fuels, oils for world leading oil companies, aircraft manufacturers, airlines, shipping companies and asked Magenta Photography to shoot what they get up to in the labs and some quite pretty test results!
The ECHA Shoot was a project that came from our creative, digital experts and friendly next-door neighbours Core, as did the shoot for The Priory Hotel. The unique hotel and restaurant is located in the historic town of Caerleon on the River Usk. This 1180 Monastery has been the perfect setting for The Priory since 1996, it is full with history, character and is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The locally sourced cuisine is absolutely fantastic and everything we were lucky enough to sample on this shoot was truly wonderful! It really is a must visit.
Twr Y Felin is part of the Retreats Group that also owns the stunning Roch Castle and Penrhiw Hotel in St Davids Pembrokeshire. The latest addition to the group was previously a landmark windmill tower that is now a contemporary art hotel, featuring over 100 original art pieces. The artwork was commissioned especially to represent Pembrokeshire and St Davids peninsula by twelve International artists. We had a great stay while doing the shoot and can’t wait to go back!
Living in a world where now so many of our connections are made online it really seems to us that business portraits are becoming essential for websites and social media. We’ve had so many enquiries already this year; this latest selection is from Gomer Williams, who provide professional legal advice in Llanelli, South Wales.
We are always up for a last minute booking at Magenta – as long as we are available of course! This was one of those wonderful occasions and we were delighted we could be at the CIM dinner for Fellows, Chartered Marketers and other leading marketers special annual event. It was a fabulous evening and great so see so many friends and familiar faces there all held in the stunning Cardiff Castle.
Our friends at Velindre recently asked us to pop in to take a picture of Shane Williams accepting a cheque on behalf of Velindre from Barclays. They managed to raise £60,000 for the Cancer Centre, they do tremendous work and we are proud to be involved with the fundraising team.
Tracey Smolinski Director at Introbiz recently featured on the front cover of Global Woman Magazine. We think its a first for Magenta to have one of our portraits on the front cover of a glossy magazine! It’s a great article too about how Tracey manages her work/life balance and her recipes for success.
That’s it from us for now, we won’t leave it so long next time!
